Summary:
This is a fabulous part time Housekeeper role for a busy family in Hitchin, Herts. They live in a 4 bed/2 bath home. The family do not feel that they are fully on top of the longer-range organisation (toys, paperwork, getting outgrown clothes out the house etc) which is an area that needs some support to bring the home's baseline tidiness up to scratch and make cleaning easier.
Duties will include:
- Clear breakfast dishes
- Make children's beds
- Quick tidy of bedrooms, living area, kitchen-diner
- Put on and hang out 1-2 loads washing
- Fold dry washing
Weekly:
- Deep clean all areas including bathrooms kitchen, floors, inside windows, dusting ceilings, corners, shelves (we do not have a lot of ornaments). I estimate this to be 5 hours (currently it is done in 3, but not quite all the dusting/corners that I would wish)
- changing all sheets and towels
- Washing all sheets and towels
- ironing of up to 5 outfits
- Watering about 10 houseplants
- Tidying/organising of dedicated areas by discussion e.g. turning out cupboards, organising toys. This is the biggest area of struggle for our family
- ad hoc errands such as returning library books, collecting/returning parcels, dropping donations to charity shop, buying presents for children's birthday parties
- Weekly top-up food shop to a list
The last three could be flexible to fit to time, e,g if there are lots of errands, no top-up shop that week.
Ideal: some family admin, e.g. keeping on top of letters from school and extra-curricular clubs and consolidating into an 'to action' list on a weekly basis.
Occasional:
- Receiving tradesmen for home maintenance jobs e.g. electrician to change light fitting.
- Light meal prep on occasion (peeling/chopping veg etc)
We are looking for someone who is experienced with busy families with young children. You will be flexible, proactive, and pragmatic. We are looking for someone who organised, and reliable.
This family values clear communication and reliability. They are flexible and relaxed as long as the give-and-take goes both ways. A proactive person who can spot what needs doing and either crack on or communicate it, is ideal
